Well this is my last blog on how to buy a horse depending on the type of person you are. You would really be amazed how much this will help you with your relationship with your horse when you go to buy a horse. Honestly just consider it when you go to buy a horse and if you aren’t an extroverted reactor type then maybe check out my other blogs on extroverted thinker, introverted reactor and introverted thinker. We all tend to fit in there somewhere and it’s just fun to do and really quite helpful when you buy a horse.
So the extroverted reactor type definitely has more energy and just jumps in with both feet and deals with the consequences later if there are any. If you are this person you are also quite sensitive, perceptive to things and ambitious. Wouldn’t you love to buy a horse that matched your energy and positive attributes? But being this extroverted reactor type you can also get defensive, over react and be impulsive. We all know though when we go to buy a horse we have to look at all attributes positive and negative and accept them for who they are. After all don’t our horses do that with us? I have said it before and I will say it again, if you want to buy a horse that will be your perfect partner then best ask your friends and family what type of person you really are. Most of us tend to think of ourselves quite differently than the ones closest to us.
Now lets look at what your perfect partner would be like when you go to buy a horse. This partner will have more “go” and will be athletic and have quite a bit of endurance. And remember if you buy a horse like this he will also be sensitive like you and quite perceptive. Again all great positives when you buy a horse like this. However this horse can also by fearful, reactive, have a tendency to bolt or rear and is a forward-aholic so you need to be quite the leader so this horse doesn’t run over you. But don’t fret if you are a first time horse owner and want to buy a horse like this. All you need to do is make sure when you buy a horse like this is that he has mild tendencies and not extreme ones. When any of these tendencies are mild they are easy to handle. So many people think of the horse that’s gone crazy and think there is no way they would buy a horse like this which is so unfair to the ones with mild tendencies. These horses make great partners and will do anything for you.
I have ridden with someone who did buy a horse like this and they are such a perfect match. That horse will do anything for her! Can you see how matching yourself with your horse could be advantageous? Buy a horse like this and he will be able to keep up with you and have the endurance you are looking for. And because he is also so sensitive you can use consistency and a strong focus to help him. If you do buy a horse that is an extroverted reactor your goal will be calmness, and retreating will be your friend when he is feeling unsafe.
